Happy Valentines Day
I started many seeds today in trays of potting mix; I just couldn't wait any longer. I woke up to a fresh 5" of snow this morning, what a surprise that was!!!! Now that the Olympics have started, I forget to check the weather forecast in the evening. Had a wonderful Valentines lunch at a little Italian place in town and will enjoy a nice leisure fondue dinner as we watch the Olympics. Go USA!!

Any sign is a good sign
I still see no sign of my bulbs emerging out of the ground. However, the Columbines are wasting no time and the aspen tips are swelling. I'll settle for that this early in February.

A New Addition
I am very excited about the new addition that I have been promised for my garden this year. Last summer I researched Bamboo's that would do well in the Denver area. I decided on David Bisset, Yellow Groove and Naked Sheath. But time got away from me, as I was working on getting the yard in order after our devastating hail storm in July and then the early snow fall in October. The growing season was over, and it was too late to order and plant my Bamboo's. Today I made a new friend, through an old friend, who is growing Yellow Groove and offered to dig up a piece from their yard in the spring so that I might plant it in mine.

A little thyme
Friends flew in from Florida today, and they brought the sunshine. We almost reached the 50's. There is still no chance of planting anything in the ground yet, even the cold weather crops, because the ground is frozen. At least I have my herb pots on the kitchen window sill. There's basil, thyme, lavender, and cilantro. Here is a photo of my thyme. He's doing the best he can, and I am very happy about that.

How many is too many?
Most days I never consider the fact that I might have too many indoor houseplants. I enjoy them and they help me live better. Exchanging my carbon dioxide for fresh clean air, removing toxins from my environment, and all this while they beautify my house, what a great trade off. But when I try to water them, all 52 of them, that thought does come to mind. I'm only whining a little, I really don't mind. I check to see how much they've grown... if there is a new leaf ... or a dead one... if I should rotate the pot towards the light... just keeping tabs on my dependents.
